John Clendenin – Biography

Titles and Awards:

Two-time World Freestyle Skiing Champion (1973 & 1974)

Four 1st Place Ballet titles (1973 & 1974)

Ski Hall of Fame as Pioneer of Freestyle Skiing (2011)

Ski Hall of Fame award as original performer in Dick Barrymore’s The K2 Performers

Film:

Appeared and starred in 20-plus promotional ski films

Principal in Summit Films feature: The Edge

Producer, promoter, and principal in the 1974 feature documentary: Winter Equinox

Produced and directed the Clendenin Ski Method (CSM) DVD: Finding the Love Spot

Pioneering Accomplishments:

Star performer on the ski deck in the Andy Williams Christmas Special – 1968

Toured in the Harry Leonard Ski Shows as a featured ski deck performer 1968-1973

Cofounder (1973) of the first certification and safety federation for freestyle competition (IFSA)

Founder of Professional Freestyle Association 1974

Author of the Clendenin Ski Method (CSM): Four Words For Great Skiing

Won the most cars in professional Freestyle Competition – Biggest regret: never won a mogul title. Best excuse:  the mogul event was always held last and going all out for the mogul title meant risking the overall title and the
car.

John lives in Aspen Colorado. He stays busy running his CSM camps in the winter, teaching golf in the summer and hosting a group of skiers every fall in Portillo, Chile.
